The Spring Showcase took place in Foster City, CA, on March 30, 2014. It's an all-day event with students throughout the region participating in two types of heats - one set in which you get critiques from the judges and one set in which you compete and get rankings within your heat. It's a not a full multi-day competition in which you get overall rankings, but the rankings within the heats indicate whether you'd progress if there were overall rankings.
Feeling elegant and ready for my smooth heats - Waltz, Tango, and Foxtrot.
Waltz
Feeling sassy and ready for my rhythm heats - East Coast Swing, Cha Cha, Rumba, and Samba.
Rumba
Cha Cha
Samba
My secondary instructor, Zach: He competes professionally when he's not at the studio, so he kicks my butt in technique work.
My primary instructor, Nate (on the left): He is also my partner for performance and competition.
Samba
Samba
Samba
Samba
Waltz
Rumba
East Coast Swing - Unfortunately, out of 3 swing heats, this was our worst. We were having fun, but definitely not "in the zone" for this one. But, since I didn't have a video of either of the other two, I figured it was better to post something than nothing.
